CVT- Continuously Variable Transmission

Analysis of an hipotetical CVT with "Flexibleteeth"

Consider an hipotetical CVT connecting two conical pulleys with a toothed belt. In order to avoid belt slip there is a toothed flexible spline which is mounted tangentialy on the conical pulley. The spline is fixed to the pulley with a pin in a radial slot. Different positions along this slot will result on different diameters of the spline.

It seems that this "collision problem" has been solved on a patented CVT (PCT/US01/20922). However, the solution for this problem is not evident on the patent description.
